Tom Johel, President & COO

Who is Tom Johel? He's our President and COO here at U·C Coatings!

Tom was born and raised near Buffalo, NY and graduated from Canisius College in 1973 with a degree in Sociology.  Tom held supervisory positions at several companies, including six years at a lumber mill and two years at the Kittinger Furniture Company before joining U·C Coatings.  With this management and wood products experience, Tom joined U·C Coatings in 1987 as a sales representative.

During his first five years, Tom made significant contributions to U·C Coatings' sales and marketing advances.  In particular, he expanded the company's line of spraying and application equipment to meet the needs of the growing customer base.  He then designed and produced marketing materials to accompany the growing product line.  As the sales department continued to grow, Tom was promoted to Vice President of Sales in 1992, overseeing six representatives who served North America and overseas markets.

Over the years Tom has established himself as an expert in the area of lumber end sealers and related products.  He has been an active member of Vistage, an executive training and resource group, for over 5 years. He has also authored a research paper for the Forest Products Society, is a graduate of the National Hardwood Lumber Association's Leadership Program and  is currently an officer of the Penn-York Lumberman's Club.

In 1998, Tom assumed general management duties of U·C Coatings' manufacturing as well as sales.  With significant increases in sales and productivity under his management, Tom was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer in 1999.  Tom also oversaw the 2001 expansion of U·C Coatings'  manufacturing facilities and the construction of new offices to accommodate the company's growth in the new millennium.
